KIDNAPPED CHIBOK SCHOOL GIRLS: CAN RELEASES LIST, DEMAND N11.7BN COMPENSATION FOR VICTIMS

By Felicia Morgan/hotmanpet.blogspot.com

Protesters led by Dr. Ezekwesili
As the Federal Government and the military authorities continue to exhibit their inability to rescue in spite of the outcries by local and international communities to rescue the kidnapped innocent college girls in North East Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has released the list of the affected students taken captive by rampaging Islamists, suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect.

CAN has also demanded N50m for each as compensation for the captured students, but it is not exactly clear whether this demand is applicable to the entire captives numbering over 230, in fact 234 to be specific at the onset. About twelve were reported to have escaped from captivity, even though the figure continue to conflict.

If the amount is multiplied by 234, the total figure the FG is expected to cough out as compensation is Eleven Billion, Seven Hundred Million (N11,700,000,000:00).

It would be recalled that young school girls of Government Girls College, Chibok in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State were about two weeks ago held captive by the sect after an invasion on the college, a situation which has dealt a big blow to girl child education in the Northern region which is battling to close up the wild gulf between South Nigeria and the North in enrolment of female pupils into schools.

CAN hints that the violent Islamic sect still has 165 Christian girls and about eighteen of their Muslim counterparts taken away from their school by the insurgents into its custody deep into the Sambisa forest in state.

Though, both Christians and Muslim students were abducted by the deadly sect; the CAN list shows that the number of Christians abducted is about 90 percent.

However, the President/Founder of Old Time Revival Hour, Kaduna and immediate-past chairman of Northern States Christian and Elders Forum, Evangelist Mathew Owojaiye, puts the number of the abducted girls at 180.

Below are the names of the Christians and Muslims among the abducted girls as released by CAN. They are:
