Former Lagos governor, Sir Michael Otedola is dead

Ex-Governor of Lagos state, Sir Michael Otedola has died a few hours ago at the age of 87.

The death of the father of oil and & gas billionaire businessman, Mr. Femi Otedola occurred barely 24 hours after popular Nigerian musician, Charly Boy lost his dad, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, to the cold hands of death in Abuja.

Sir Otedola had governed Lagos state in the shortlived third Republic during the era of military President, General Ibrahim Babangida from January 1992 to November 18, 1993, when the military took over the government through a coup.


He was elected under the banner of the National Republican Convention (NRC) having defeated the Social Democratic Party (SDP) flagbearer, Professor Agbalajobi who himself died several years ago.

The deceased was born July 16, 1926 into in Odoragunsin in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State.
